After a year's contemplation and trepidation, I was coaxed out of my inertia by my family's constant encouragement. I decided to embrace the uncertainty of what I was about to embark on and even use it to my advantage.
The project was borne out of my love for owning a piece of 'art' created by someone who might not be considered an artist in the strictest sense of the word, but who was nevertheless trying to create something beautiful.
I felt it inadequate to own and enjoy these forms within the confines of my own home .
I decided to use an online gallery to begin showcasing these art works and their creators. And I intend on extending this space into a physical gallery in the coming months.
Since I believe art manifests itself in a variety of mediums, I use the term broadly to include sculpture, textile, photographs, landscapes, woodwork, painting, etc.
The concept of the Black Swan felt like the ideal metaphor for both the underlying philosophy of my project, as well as the mental space I had to occupy to kick start it.
I extend an open invitation to
- artists who want to display their work on my blog or in my gallery
- suggestions for art works you would like to see displayed here
- information and suggestions about exhibitions, etc
so that we can explore and utilise this space together.
Good Effort! I am sure this space will prove to be very effective and this medium the best form to promote it.
